Chapter Philanthropy
Head Start
Do you love being able to see the changes that you make from volunteering? Here at Gamma Rho, we get to work hands on with children within the Meadville community! Gamma Rho is lucky enough to have partnered with the local Head Start in Meadville. Sisters volunteer weekly at the Head Start center, completing tasks such as reading to children, working on activities with them, or helping Head Start employees with whatever they may need. After various fundraisers throughout the year, we give the proceeds to Head Start so that they can buy books for students. With the money that we raised recently, Head Start was able to begin the "Kappa Kappa Gamma Book of the Month Club". This means that each child receives a book every month and as a class, they read the story together. They even get to take the books home. The ability to work within our community is an extremely rewarding experience that is unique to our chapter.
Kappa Philanthropy Events
We hold various events throughout the school year to benefit Reading is Fundamental, The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, and Head Start. These events include:
- Kappa Kisses
- Open Mic Night with Kappa Alpha Theta
- Bake Sales
Campus Wide Philanthropy
Within Kappa Kappa Gamma, we believe that an important part of being in the Greek community is participating in other chapter's philanthropic events. Throughout both the fall and spring semesters, our calendar is full of Greek and other community events in which Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters participate. The SAMS (Students for the Awareness of Multiple Sclerosis) Lip-Syncing contest is an event held every spring semester to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. We are proud to say that our chapter has raised the most money for this cause for multiple years in a row. Kappas also participate in Service Saturdays, Make a Difference Day, Relay for Life, Alpha Phi Omega, and the Bonner Scholar program. Kappa Kappa Gamma provides its members with so many opportunities to be philanthropic.
